AMD OverDrive and CrossFire Come To Linux

Seems that ATI/AMD is becoming more and more Linux friendly.

[Today they announced] CrossFire and OverDrive support for Linux [through Catalyst 8.8 drivers].  Phoronix has a complete run-down on both features — including benchmarks — in their AMD OverDrive on Linux and ATI Radeon CrossFire On Linux articles. Other features were also introduced in this update such as Linux 2.6.26 kernel support, Adaptive Anti-Aliasing, and other fixes.

Atheros unveils free Linux driver for its 802.11n devices

Atheros has released ath9k to the community with an aim of including it in the Linux kernel.  The ath9k driver supports all Atheros IEEE 802.11n devices.

The following chipsets are supported:

  • AR5418+AR5133
  • AR5416+AR5133
  • AR5416+AR2133
  • AR9160
  • AR9280
  • AR9281

ATI Catalyst 8.5 available for Linux

ATI’s latest driver is now available for both 32-bit and 64-bit Linux users.

Oh, the drivers are also available for some other operating systems, such as Windows.
