Dell has announced that they are equipping a range of enterprise laptops with their “Latitude ON” subsystem, which allows nearly instant access to a Linux desktop that can be used for simple tasks such as email, web browsing etc. Dell has previewd the system on new Latitude E4200 and E4300 models, but few other details are available.

Asus is bringing more Eee PC form factors to market. This time the Eee PC 903, 904 and 905 make their (unofficial) debut. Basically they feature the same internals as the Eee PC 1000, but in larger cases.

Apparently MSI will follow in Asus’s footsteps and create a desktop version of their sub-notebook. The desktop Wind will likely have pretty much the same internals as the current notebook editions. It will be powered by the same 1,6GHz Intel Atom CPU and feature 1GB of DRAM(upgradeable to 2GB), a 3.5-inch HDD with up to 160GB of storage and WLAN 802.11b/g built in. A DVD drive will also be included.
The price will range from $199 to $299, depending on the feature set. The InfoWorld article says that the machines will ship with Windows XP, but hopefully a Linux version will also be available…

According to an email received by an Engadget reader, Fred H, the MSI Wind’s shipping is beign delayed until “the week of July 7.” This positions it to arrive at around the same time as the new Asus Eee PCs…

Apparently the Asus pre-sales department has been telling folks that the new Eee PCs (901, 1000 & 1000H) will start shipping in the US on July 8th. If this hold true, it means that some of you lucky folks have just a bit more than a week to go…
Be warned though, Asus shipping dates have been known to slip…

Debian on the next Asus Eee PC?

A message on the Debian Eee PC mailing list hints that Asus may be planning to replace Xandros on its Eee PCs with a modified version of Debian.
The message also asks “anyone currently working on Debian Eee PC to review and update our todo so that it accurately reflects anything you are working on, plan to work on, or believe needs attention by our team.”

Thursday, June 5th, 2008Asus continues to expand it’s Eee brand. The most recent addition is this 42-inch Eee TV spotted at Computex by the sharp eyed Engadget Chinese. Apparently a PS3 was bolted on to the back of the thing and was playing Cars off a Blu-ray disc.
