Atom mini-itx board

A UK firm (Tranquil PC) is offering a mini-ITX motherboard based on the new Intel Atom processor.  The D945GCLF motherboard comes equipped with a low-power 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU (512K L2 cache) and an Intel 945GC + ICH7 chipset.

Features include:

  • Intel high definition audio (Line Out, Line In, Microphone)
  • 10/100 LAN
  • PCI
  • SATA2 (3GB/s, 2 ports)
  • IDE (1 port)
  • DDR2 533/667 (max 2GB)
  • 2 USB ports

All this with just a 17 x 17 cm footprint, and all for just about 67 euros or £59,90 (ex. VAT).  No mention is made about overall power consumption, but it should be quite low.

Stick one of these in a shoebox, and you’ll have a small Linux machine running in no time!
